  1. Oscar Wilde's “The Young King” is the tale of a young man's metamorphosis, through a dream quest, that opens his eyes to the heart rendering struggle of the poor, who are exploited by the rich and the powerful to satisfy their own selfish needs. The change that takes place in the Young King reflects his attainment of the virtue asked for in Christ's message.

  2. The main characters of the history written by Wilde is the young king. He is a raund characters because is describes during the narration. At the beginning the young boy is a shipered but then he will became king. The people say of him that he was a superficial boy, who spent all his time admiring the beautiful things araund him. In fact he likes so much admiring beautiful statues of the palace, paintings and jawels, beauty and art, and he wanted beautiful robe with gold , rubiers, pearls and jewels to his coronation robe. During the night before the coronation's day the young king has some dreams. With these dreams the author drows social and contempory themes. He describes the condition in which men, woman, and children are exploited in the industry, where they working with a terrible smell in a dark and horrible building without sunlight and with small and few windows. Then he describes the explotation of the land during the colonisation and the slavery in this period. He tells the history of a young slave who died in the indifference, caused by the hard work. The other social and contemporary theme is the higt mortality and the human diseases, which kills many of workers. During the narration we know that the main character has a metamorphosies. Full and important element in this changement are the clothes. at the beginnings the boy was very poor wearing with a leather tunic, suddently he will became king with a beautiful coronation robe, but during the night he reflects through the dreams and at the end he became a beggar's person wearing very poor clothes which tanks to a ray of sun, which rappresents the divine light, became beautiful clothes.in this story Wilde make a criticism of the capital system of the time. Its hope is that the readers can change their life and can know the importance of values, rather than to the material wealth.
